Laptop Problems

I’m back! It’s been a couple of weeks because my computer died, but I’m back.

It upgraded to Windows 11 and was working fine, then it did an update and completely died. I mean Blue Screen of Death died. There was nothing I could do. I tried uninstalling the updates but it wouldn’t allow me. I tried system restore, didn’t work. I was doomed. I removed the hard drive and managed to extract all the data from there (which took four days – damn data), and then reinstalled Windows 10 which I fortunately had a copy of on a memory stick, and it now seems to be working as it should. Oh yeah, I had to put all my data back on which took another four days.  But now I’m back!

Data Loss

The collateral damage was all the data on my C drive. Poof. All gone up in smoke. This is a proper pain in the bottom because I usually put all the stuff I’m working on on this drive, and then move it to my D drive when it’s complete. So everything recent has just disappeared. I thought it would be saved on my One Drive but either I don’t understand it completely, or it’s just rubbish. After the last couple of weeks, either of these could be true.

Anyway, I’ve put measures in place to prevent this data loss going forward, and I’m very reluctant to upgrade to Windows 11. So, fingers crossed, this won’t impact me as much if it happens again.

That’s about all for now – short and sweet this week because I’ve got a lot of work to catch up with.

See you next week.

Peace out X
